Anne Shiras Pioneer Lecture
Associate Professor Gale Spring, FBPA
Gale Spring was Director of Photographic Services in the Pathology Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas, Texas for 11 years, working between pathology services and the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science.
In 1988, Gale made a giant leap moving from Dallas, Texas to Melbourne, Australia to take a position as Senior Lecturer and Program Leader of the program in Scientific Photography at the RMIT University. Gale retired as Deputy Dean in the School of Applied Science in 2013 but remains an Adjunct Professor in the School of Science. He continues teaching, conducting workshops and consulting on forensic imaging cases.
Gale will give the Anne Shiras Pioneer Members Lecture at BIOCOMM 2022.

Danielle Edwards – 2020 Louis Schmidt Laureate
The Louis Schmidt Committee is pleased to announce that Danielle Edwards, BA, BAppSc (Hons), FBCA, RBI, FAIMBI, FIPT has been selected as the 2020 Louis Schmidt Laureate. This award, the highest honour in the BCA, will be presented at BIOCOMM 2022.
Danielle's 30-year photographic career has been primarily as Manager of Clinical Photography at Austin Health in Melbourne, Australia. Currently she is the veteran liaison photographer at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, documenting veterans and working with the historical collection. Her background is in arts and science.
